A timeline of the companies and brands that came to form the ecosystem around Aviões e Músicas.
From Brazil’s Northeast to the Santos region, from the hangars at Congonhas to Africa and major international events, different places help tell this story.
Major productions are also built by teams. Here are some of the professionals credited on landmark projects.
Lito Sousa died on October 1, 2026, at age 59, following the rapid progression of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. His family announced the news. In her farewell, Mila Seidl shared memories of their life together, family and aviation.
In the preceding weeks, Lito had received the experimental compound ALN-6457 through compassionate access. Public updates remained cautious: no clinical efficacy had been established, and on September 23–25 the family emphasized that no improvement had been confirmed. On September 26, the HJ Conference honored him; after his death, ANAC published a statement of condolence highlighting his contribution to operational safety and to making aviation knowledge more accessible.
The final chapter of his life becomes part of this timeline without overshadowing everything that came before. The purpose of this page remains the same: to preserve the whole journey.
Professor Gonçalves helps train Lito. Lito spends decades working across maintenance, communication and operational safety. Later, he creates structures to train those who come next. Education emerges as the continuation of a story that began when he was still a student.
The drive to explain aviation to people outside the industry runs through the 2007 A380 coverage, YouTube, podcasts, books, Sem Medo de Voar, Lito Aviation Academy and the community. The medium changes; the impulse remains.

Lito, this tribute was born from the desire to retrace your story with the same care that always marked the way you spoke about aviation: respect for facts, for the people who were part of the journey, and for the complexity of every story.
That is why it begins before fame. It begins with the boy who dreamed about ships, passes through ALA 435, Professor José Gonçalves, the Bell H-13, the hangars at Congonhas, the overnight shift, the Electras, Africa, Transbrasil and so many years at United. It also passes through the computer, turntables, Flight Simulator, the old smart.dj, the first videos under djsmartx and a blog that, without realizing it, was building a new way to teach aviation.
Aviões e Músicas grew, reached millions of people, and gave rise to books, podcasts, series, schools, events, companies and an entire team. But something simpler runs through every phase: shared knowledge. You opened hangar doors to people who might never have entered one, explained accidents without turning tragedy into spectacle, brought people closer to air transport, helped those who were afraid to fly and, after being trained by others, went on to train those who came next.
This page does not try to reduce you to a subscriber count, an award, an aircraft or a single moment. It tries to preserve the whole journey — including the small details, collaborators and stories that normally fall outside a short biography.
Thank you for so often turning curiosity into knowledge and for showing that aviation can also be understood by those outside the cockpit or the hangar.
On October 1, 2026, this tribute took on a meaning I never wished to add. Your passing ended a life, but it did not end what you taught, the people you inspired or the stories you left along the way. This site remains as a way to preserve that journey with the respect, curiosity and care for facts that I learned to admire in you.
